Musicals, concerts and plays can always be found scattered throughout towns big and small in our neck of the woods. From colleges and churches to community arts groups, someone is always looking for an audience. Some troops in the region breathe new life into classic theaters. The Clinton County Showcase in Breese holds most of their wide array of performances in the beautiful Avon Theater. The Monroe Actors Stage Company takes the stage in the historic Capitol Theatre in downtown Waterloo. Other community groups - like the Looking Glass Playhouse in Lebanon, the Lawrence County Arts Council, and the Open House Theatre Company in New Athens - provide several shows throughout the year to an adoring public. College theaters like the Hett at McKendree University, the Wabash Valley College Performing Arts and Dunham Hall and the Metcalf Theatre at SIUE provide are excellent forums for concerts, lectures and of course plays and musicals.
