Life's a Trip at Mill Creek Lake

Mill Creek Lake is located right off Interstate 70 outside of Marshall. This wildlife area is home to all things outdoors including camping, boating, and biking. Step back to a much simpler time without all the distractions of modern day while becoming closer with nature. The lake is 731 acres and only goes up to 60 feet in some areas. The average depth is 22 feet making it great for boating or fishing.

The best fishing at Mill Creek Lake is for crappie. White and black crappie are very abundant at this lake and growth rates have been steadily increasing year after year. There is also a good chance you can catch some channel catfish, largemouth bass or redear sunfish. If you have a boat there are several access points to the lake. Don't miss the chance to take the family riding or tubing around the lake.

If you aren't into water sports, Mill Creek Lake is also known for its birdwatching. Bring your binoculars and cameras and try to catch a glimpse of a Downy Woodpecker, Black Capped Chickadee, or a Finch. While you aren't checking out the lake there are plenty things in the area to check out. For the art and history buffs you can stop into Harlan Hall or the Gaslight Art Colony. Also, make sure to check out the Walldog Murals throughout town. More than 150 artists from around the world came to Marshall to paint over 16 murals on the side of area businesses. Grab a selfie and tag # Also, just a short drive away is Big Things in a Small Town in Casey. Visitors can see the 8 Guniess Book of World Records in this town including World's Largest mailbox, rocking chair, wind chime and more! While you are at the mailbox make sure to head into the Casey Candy Depot for some sweets or to pick up a gift at the year round Christmas Shop located upstairs.
