One of the most interesting parts of Hidden Lake is the ground on which the winery was built. This location is referred to as the “Silent Forest” and is well known to the locals for the legends that are told about it including the Indian spirits can be seen at night around the grounds. There is also a story that a bootlegger produced whiskey on the grounds during prohibition. There are 10 cabins located on the site that include amenities such as a fireplace, jacuzzi tub, and satellite tv. The “Silent Forest” isn’t the only entertainment to keep you busy at Hidden Lake. The winery prides itself in bringing great live music, special holiday events such as Mother’s Day Brunches and Father’s Day BBQs, and several festivals throughout the year. One of the large events they host every year is WInestock where guests enjoy live music, food, a grape stomp, and a costume contest. Also, keep in mind that this winery is a great place for your next event including corporate events and weddings. There are 5 spaces all with great views for an unforgettable experience. The selection of wines at Hidden Lake are made with locally grown fruit and bottled on site in the cellar. These selections include several type of dry, semi-sweet, semi-dry, and sweet wines. The most popular dry wine in their line up is the Vidal Blanc. This wine as a subtle aroma of white chocolate behind cantaloupe and pineapple resembling avocado and grapefruit. This wine won the bronze medal in the 2014 Annual Mid-America Wine Competition. The popular sweet wines include Adam’s Apple and Sugar Creek White. Both of these include hints of apples. Hidden Lakes most decorated wine is the Double Decker Red. This semi-sweet wine has hints of raspberry and cherry and 4 medals including one bronze and two silver medals at various competitions and a Gold Medal at the 2012 NextGen Wine Competition. The largest attraction in the area is Carlyle Lake. Many people come to this lake for great fishing, sailing and for their recreational areas. Visitors can also stop by nearby Breese for a tour of Excel Bottling or by historic downtown Lebanon for great shopping or one of their events. Hidden Lake is highly recommended for weddings.
