With everything from dry to sweet and red, white, and blushes, all wine enthusiasts will find something enjoyable from the Cameo Vineyards collection.

Cameo Vineyards started as a dream in 1991 when the owners, Sonya and Dan, first planted 70 grape vines. They quickly got the hang of the vineyard business and officially opened Cameo

Vineyards in 2002. They now have nearly 4,000 French-American hybrid grapevines covering close to seven acres in Southern Illinois. The owners are very hands on and can be seen working around the Vineyard each day. They both are proud to celebrate their 15th Business Anniversary this year.

The Vineyard itself reminds guests of California Wine Country since it is perched on a bluff overlooking a spectacular panoramic view of the hillside courtyard and the Embarras River Valley. Cameo is committed to producing fine regional wines and providing warm, personal service for its guest. Visitors can enjoy complimentary wine tastings, purchase wine by the glass, and browse through the gift shop. Feel free to grab some cheese and crackers to go with your selection as you take in the sights.

Cameo Vineyards has many varieties but like any winery, they are known specifically for a couple. If red wine is your thing, you have to try the Country Concord. This sweet red wine reminds you of grapes your grandma grew. It has a sweet and classic flavor and is great served chilled anytime. If you are in the market for a blush wine the Pink Catawba or the Embarras Blush is worth

checking out. The Pink Catawba is a semi-sweet wine made from the Catawba grape. It has a soft grapey taste balanced with just the right amount of sweetness. The Embarras Blush is the winner of a bronze medal for its sweet, delicate flavor. The grapes used for this wine are grown at Cameo making it a true original. Easily Cameo’s most popular choice is their white wine, Day Drinkin. This is a sweet, sangria wine and perfect to sip outside while enjoying the views of the Embarras River.

Kevin W highly recommends the “dry, red called River’s Edge”, that has hints of blackberry and cherry and pairs well with steak and hearty Italian dishes.
