Within the Kaskaskia River State Fish & Wildlife Area, there’s excellent fishing and migratory bird watching for outdoor enthusiasts. A two-lane boat ramp, camping and picnic facilities are nearby.
Kaskaskia Brewing is located in a 150-year-old building, and produces about 4 barrels of beer per batch. Their selection is ever-changing, so have a pint or try a sampler. They also serve Growlers to go.
The beautiful Opera House, built in 1855 in downtown Red Bud, is the site of the new Red Bud Area Museum. German settlers came to this part of Illinois around 1820, and the museums mission is to collect, preserve and display exhibits, artifacts and documents that chronicle the citys history and growth. Regular hours are Tuesday Saturday from 10am-4pm, Sunday 1-4pm or by appointment for groups.
