Bond County Courthouse
The 19th-century courthouse has a great view of the town’s hundreds of crab apple, red bud, and cherry trees in season. It is the centerpiece of the Square which is lined with shops, a theatre and restaurants.
Many local and national performances are hosted here throughout the year.
The Theatre is housed in what was originally the Greenville Steam Laundry, the Hygienic Ice Company, the Hygienic Dairy and the Ice Cream Company. Today, plays are performed for almost 3,000 patrons each year with a season of up to six plays. Now the sewing machines in the costume shop create colorful dresses, hats and capes rather than work gloves.
Fine art, savory food, wine and delightful music are featured at this event sponsored by Our Common Ground. Artists from the St. Louis metro area display and sell their work. The event is held in September.
